With India turning 60 on August 15,2007 I tried to review the strides taken since independence. I spent some time to ruminate over few questions that have perturbed me over the past few years. I can't say i have an answer but tried to develop my own hypothesis. I was wondering if there is anything common among the Indians aside from our passport ???? Granted,India comprises many states with different language, caste, creed, culture, cuisines, convictions, economic practices, political and geographic variety. But something makes us tick. I was pondering over what it could be and finally arrived at the conclusion that its our "virtues". In other words the harmony of moral, material, and spiritual values are inbuilt in Indian psyche. And this better explains the concept of "Unity In Diversity". One more thing that amazed me is the brilliance of an average Indian. Given each individual's predisposition and population strength no wonder we have such a cacophony of arguments, opinions, beliefs, practices and ideologies. But this is why perhaps India has plenty of brilliant individuals in different fields :-) . We may be free-wheeling,robust,corrupt,inefficient and divided, yet we are flourishing. Perhaps our contradictory nature evens out the anarchy of our endeavors and deliver results. Anything is at its resourceful best when pushed to deliver. I guess India is t its best !!!!!

Self-Satisfaction !!!!!
I learnt that many of my friends are not satisfied with their current status. Some were confounded by the abstruse thoughts that make them feel that way. Initially I thought that this alludes to Job-satisfaction. But this correlation is inter-dependent, meaning people who are satisfied with life tend to be satisfied with their job and people who are satisfied with their job tend to be satisfied with life. Job-satisfaction is decided by the attitude we develop towards the job and and we develop that attitude by taking into account our feelings, our beliefs and behaviour. So if we assay what our belief asserts we'll definitely be able to identify the cause. The cause may be either due to fear of future or due to an ardent desire to achieve. And the solution is Simple. Define your goal and have a vision to reach it. Self-satisfaction is also defined as complacent satisfaction and a person who is complacent never achieves great heights. So why should anyone be complacent in this competitive world?? There are two kinds of people. Those who feel bad by comparing themselves with adroit and the other who tries to find what it takes to become an adroit. The later are in the right track to achieve great success.Life is a journey that consists of pain, agony, relief, confidence, exhilaration, ecstasy and finally euphoria. And this euphoria is never achieved by complacent people or in other words the self-satisfied ones. So never be self-satisfied. Set a target at every stage of your life and thrive on hard work to achieve it. Life is beautiful!!!!
"To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield" - Beautiful line from the poem Ulysses that summarizes everything said above...
(Those who know me personally would know what qualifies me to write this blog. This is entirely my view and based on some bad experiences i had in the recent past)

Searching for News ?????
I recently heard about the google news agency. I wonder how this company has such amazing potential to venture into each and every field seamlessly. This indeed was a very bold move by a tech-savvy company when it was forced by the news agencies to pay them for aggregating the news. The victory is pyrrhic. For the agencies have transformed google into what it was not, into what they and their clients should most dread. The paradox here is, syndicated news is aggregated and google is a very successful aggregator. A link makes syndication obsolete; a link is more efficient. So if a information provider knows how to top the google's story ranking, they know how to profit. This is a healthy competition and we are vstepping into a new arena of information age. Google should serve the cause of journalism by giving credit to the journalists who are the building blocks. The idea is simple, do what you do best and link to the rest. People recognize you through your value, not because you are a destination !!!!!!

Jinx continues !!!!!
Till now the series has been a never-jangling one of fluctuating fortunes. A wrong move and there would have been no comeback. This crunch time is only for those who are calm and brave in heart, the so-called "heroes". And finally it was the English team that qualified as one. Till now it has been a triumphant campaign for team India. Dravid's men roared back to defeat RSA 2-1 in Belfast, won the test series and were a match away from making history. But this failure to raise to the occasion and perform has diminished the earlier achievements. India had the momentum and edge. But flintoff made the difference. The comeback of this genuine all-rounder has been a great morale-booster for the england team. Dravid made yet another bad decision. Chasing down the target in the small arena and fast outfield could have been a better option. But apart from all this, there have been plenty of positives for India; Sachin's dream run; Dravid changing gears; Smarter Ganguly; Powar and Chawla's heart and craft; I 'am sure this team will live up to the expectations of every Indian in the upcoming matches.

India clunch the Humdinger
The Indian team again proved themselves that they are the best chasers. Uttappa's aplomb during the hard times will earn him a steady spot in the team. He escalated himself as a match winner other than being a opener. Not to forget the adroit replies by sachin and saurav. That was an amazing show of their experience in international arena. But the characteristic Indian way of collapsing, no matter how impregnable their position may be , need to be addressed at this stage. After getting off to a flying start the Indian middle order struggled. Personally i like Dravid. But his decision to hand over the ball to yuvraj in the last over was a weird decision. No wonder ,yuvraj will be the happiest man after the win and it was obvious when he came sprinting to hug uttappa after the winning shot. Overall everyone would have enjoyed a lot watching a nail-bitting match after long time. I m eagerly waiting to watch trophy decider on Saturday. Hope the Indians will continue their good show. Chak de India !!!!!!!
